3xB: Stillwater Cellar Door Saison

This Week’s Big Bottle: Stillwater Cellar Door

This farmhouse ale is made by the good folks at Stillwater Artisan Ales in Baltimore, Maryland.   Jtonzi and I split the bottle and were both impressed.   As you can see in the photo, it looks tasty, but the pour is actually brighter and a more golden orange than the picture suggests.  The sterling and citra hops gives it herbal grass & tangerine citrus flavors and aroma.   The German wheat and pale malts give the ale a crisp taste.  White sage was added to give it a mild earthy spice note that pairs well with the subtle Sterling hops.   Whatever  house yeast Stillwater used it seemed to bring all the flavors together for a fitting dry finish.  One of the more complex saisons I have had.

For those of you looking to get your hands on this beer, there is some good news.   The brewer has announced this once seasonally available ale will be available year-round in bottles and draft.   Stillwater brews are currently available in: MD/DC, NY, NJ, CA, IL, NC, SC, PA, OR, WI, FL, CT, RI, GA, MA, MO, ME, VA.
