Brew Review-Avery Ellie’s Brown Ale

I really enjoy Brown Ales.  They tend be a bit sweet and malty, and slightly nutty, with a mellow hoppiness that manages to bring the whole package together.

Avery’s Ellie’s Brown Ale is one of those well designed brown ales.  It’s the kind of brown ale I’d gladly sip over and over again.

It pours a dark brown color, which one would expect from a brown ale.  It has a mild hop aroma, with a slight sweet maltiness mixed in.

The taste is perfect.  A malty, creamy front that gives the Ellie’s Brown the flavor of a great dessert.  A slightly bitter back that shows up just to remind you that you’re having a quality beer.  Finally a slightly nutty finish that fades away leaving you wishing you hadn’t just finished the entire 6-pack.
