Brew Review-Bell’s Oarsman Ale

After drinking the Bell’s Oarsman Ale, I feel like I’m late to the party.  Like, if only I had been paying attention, my summer could’ve been filled with another great beer in the stable.

Sadly, summer’s pretty much over and I got to this one too late.  The Oarsman Ale would’ve been a fantastic beer on a hot summer day.

The Bell’s Oarsman pours a pale yellow color and is crystal clear.  It has a slightly sour aroma (due to the sour mash).  The taste is wonderful.  It’s very light with a mild sourness.  It finishes very crisp with a high amount of carbonation.

It would’ve been the perfect beer for summer.  Sadly it’s nearly winter now.  So, in order to finish off the last few, I’ll be cranking up my heat and sitting under a lamp.  Ah, summer.

  1. Yo J!

I stumbled upon this beer under the same circumstances. It was a late September purchase. You’re review is right on the money. This is a very tasty beer! I’ll have to look for it again next summer and load up the fridge with a few.

    • For what it’s worth, I was at Total Wine in Alexandria the other day and notice a few of these hiding on the shelves. A little sneak peak for the summer.
