This Week’s Big Bottle: Widmer Brothers Barrel Aged Brrrbon

While sitting at RFD, staring blankly at the cooler full of bottles, we noticed a box. A little cardboard box, like you’d see holding a super fancy bottle of scotch.

We ordered the little box with complete disregard for what was in it, and how much it cost. Cause that’s what we do at J Street Beer Review!

The super fancy bottle of scotch turned out the be the Widmer Barrel Aged Brrrbon, which is the Widmer Brothers’ (Brrr Seasonal Ale) that’s been hanging out in bourbon barrels for a bit. It poured a nice rich amber color and had a slightly sweet boozy aroma. The flavor was just as expected. It was malty sweet with a little mocha mixed in. It was slightly bitter, but nothing overwhelming. The bourbon showed up at the end to burn your throat, but faded quickly away. Overall, a nice beer.
