Ballpark Brews: New Season New Beer?

A new season brings new hope that this could be the season where the Nationals (or your favorite team, well, besides the Pirates) break through to the winning side.  For the beer lovers out there, the new season brings hope that there will be added “good” beer at the stadium.  I was able to find good beer last season, but would these beers still be there?

Well, I have some good news and some bad news.  I’ll start with the bad news: I went to my favorite beer stand behind section 136 and they no longer had the Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA.  Just about the whole line-up has changed, mostly for the worse (just like the Nationals).  However, the good news is that there is one shining star in the new line-up (not Jayson Werth): Flying Dog Raging Bitch.  If you’ve never had it, I would highly recommend it and that recommendation goes for away from the ballpark too.  It’s brewed in the Belgian IPA style and wonderfully mixes the too styles together – not too sweet, but not too hoppy.  In a sea of macro light beers this is a breath of fresh air.

The search for good beer is not over as I will try to scour the stadium for good beer!

If you really want 60 minute, go to the Red Porch, its below the Red Loft in center field. The bar downstairs has 60 minute, Flying Dog, Loose Cannon and others.

I remember when the stadium first opened, they were serving DFH 90 minute IPAs in the restaurant below the Red Porch. Those were the good ol days
